A Scottish chap!Hoots mon!(Dave you really shouldn't buy tacky soveniers)
An Australian chap at a wedding with his wife!
Today we have had a good boost to the sponsor money as the Liverpool money arrived £200.50 thank you one and all. Thanks to Southampton too.Someone mentioned that the last pictures were irelevent(well that was Dave actually)but I don't think they were.He is a self declared chap and as such I was sure you would like to see what the well turned out chap wears! As there have been no comments made I'm assuming that you were all interested...hey you would tell me if this was getting boring wouldn't you....hmmm praps no-one reads it anymore anyway...in which case...no Morva you are not boring yourself!

Blimey

2 pictures Dave took in Cornwall!

have you guys looked at the justgiving total recently it's pretty impressive now I've added in the offline money. We also have £250 put aside for the APT charity.I'm really out of things to say at the moment....hey,me out of things to say, that must be a record of some sort!I will be updating this occasionally so that you will all be able to find out exactly how much we raise.Don't think I will be able to add Margaret's photos as they are on a CD...have to think about that.

Sunday

Bike dungeon at Carbisdale Castle

Dounreay(hell,we don't know how to spell it!)

1st and last hotel built in 1875(Dave read this out to me...I think he thinks that's exciting....hahaha)
the saga goes on....

there were 3 pumpkins, growing in the vegetable patch....

more later.
This is the last of Dave's photos altho we have some of Margaret's now, talking of which any slanderous remarks she's been making(in the comments column)about the amount of beer Dave drank whilst cycling are strenuously denied and I would like you all to ask yourselves should she be saying these things in view of her whisky habit!

Saturday

Guess what....Dave went out for a bike ride this morning! He hasn't been put off at all.He is still trying to think of some amusing stories for us,in the mean time....

Once upon a time....

More on that tomorrow folks!Pictures fairly self explanitory,a road sign for the Andersons,an oil rig,Carbisdale Castle(again)and a forest for the forest fans!Personally I am a Finn fan but that's another story.I have a Finn fone too.

Friday

so everybody say hooray! Some more photos and a big well done and thank you to the Australian contingent who managed to raise $220 for MND.Nat will be forwarding that to the MND people at your end,for us UKers that translates to about £100!Also I have lots of Euros today, see we are truly international and want to say another big thank you particularly to Giorgio Brattoli a keen Italian cyclist I believe, and Anna and Bob who aren't so keen on the bicycle as a means of transport. It is difficult to know the best way to say thank you as so many people in the UK are also giving and we don't want to leave anyone out but it is near impossible to mention everyone by name.I have mentioned some because they haven't even met us and still have given(and that includes Monica,Ali and Jane!)I asked Dave last night for a tale of his time on the road to amuse you all with and he couldn't come up with anything. So I will soon be making stuff up,after all I don't want the audience to get bored do I?Pictures today of the Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge.

More photos

of Bonnie Scotland.A hydro electric scheme at the top.A very important memorial to the massacred MacDonalds and a couple more views!I'm doing these a few at a time because it takes ages to upload them .....there's a technical term!

and yet more photos.Dave brought a heap of cash home yesterday...those forestry workers surely do eat a lot of cake.Thank you for such dedication, the cause is a worthy one but please we don't want to contribute to the UK obesity problem!Thought you might like to see what big pine cones they have in Scotland,I'd be interested to see the tree that came off.Dave found his saddle a little uncomfortable on the trip,I expect the one put on the first bike was worse.

Tuesday

Some more photos and a translation I forgot to add yesterday for our international friends.Dave cycled 1570kms altogether! He's gone to work today....on the bus.Thes photos are mostly views- doesn't Scotland look amazing in the sun?The building is the smithy at Gretna Green where people used to run away to get married if they were to young to marry in England!1st stop over the border....nowadays they just live together!

Monday 17th Sept.

No, Dave didn't cycle to work today but that was mostly cos he's having a day off....hmmm something else he forgot to mention to me!Here is a fascinating fact....Dave cycled 975.5 miles altogether and he didn't have a puncture.....isn't that amazing! Now back to the photos,I believe we left him at Warrington, apart from the odd photos that came in over the email.I hope these photos will come up in the order I am looking at them when I publish but there's no guarantee,if you click on them though it will make them bigger! 1)Cheshire roadsign 2)Lancashire(proof that he went through all these places) 3)Old jet fighter 'The Lightning' outside a factory in Lancs(Alan's favourite jet)and, specially for Jewlz,4)Penriff Castle!!

He's home!Sunday

Dave got home at about 8pm last night and he doesn't seem too worse for wear.To those who are querying who our son is....it's Jewlz of course....best boy in the world:) Lots of fotos to follow over the next few days as we sort things out.

Saturday

Dave should be home tonight, quite late I think,he will be flying from Inverness to Bristol, and then cycling to Bristol train station(a mere 8-10 miles)to catch a train to Gloucester.Hopefully he will bring some more pictures to put on here.Interestingly he told Kay by text yesterday about the wind,(it was a side one and gusting at 30mph...quite scarey)he didn't mention it to me,and I'm wondering if it's because he feels embarrassed when I tell our readers about his wind problems! I'm sorry Dave I won't do it again!I'm having a bit of trouble with the email at the moment so apologies to anyone I should've been in contact with.In the mean time Highland Cattle and a tin church in the middle of nowhere.

HE MADE IT! Friday 14th September 2007

I had a text at 14.30 to say Dave is at John-O-Groat's and has had his picture taken.Hooray Dave and well done. It's pretty windy up there and I think judging by the weather forecast Dave hasn't finished his ride a day too soon.OK now comes the difficult bit...persuading you all that it's time to pay up.If you wish to use the web and claim extra from Mr Taxman(I would've said Mr Brown at one time, but must confess my ignorance I haven't a clue who the new chancellor is!)the web address is www.justgiving.com/DavidRClark I would also like to say that this bike ride was done as a tribute and in remembrance of Alan,Dave's brother, who would've been 59 today. This is the reason for giving to the Motor Neurone Disease Association, they helped him and are trying to find a cure for this horrid disease.

Friday

Dave and Margaret have sent some photos thru the email...clever stuff this eh,here are some. The first is a footbridge Dave had to go across to reach Carbisdale Castle otherwise it would've meant another 9 miles of riding.No.2 is a statue inside the castle.Sorry folks you'll have to lie down to look at it.The others are the back up car(nice to see you're keeping it clean Margaret)and Dave cycling away from Struie Hill.Great name...haven't a clue where it is!

Thursday

Big xcitement...Dave is only a day away from his destination! He has already arrived at his stop for the night at 14.45 having cycled 54.5miles to Bettyhill. He cycled 63.99miles yesterday. He has at last found the wind that blows in the right direction to help him along(how long has that taken?)And so far only one and half day's of rain.Considering the appalling weather we have had this summer I think he has been very lucky!Altho' the rain was very wet....not the dry sort we usually have then Dave?!?So you guys it's nearly time to cough up,get yer pennies out and get counting please. When I know he has made it I will put a repeat of the justgiving address on here for your convenience, see how obliging I am!

Please read the comment on the previous post

as it's from Dave and Margaret!

And here is Dave yesterday afternoon(Wednesday).

Wednesday

apparantly it rained all day in Scotland yesterday and Dave got soaked!Ha ha,well he is in Scotland, and that seems perfectly reasonable weather for up there.Tonight he is staying in Carbisdale Castle,Culrain which is some way north of Inverness. Can you believe these amazing Youth Hostels? His bike has been locked in the dungeons. Also, another picture of Dave in action, somewhere near Kirby Lonsdale I believe... oi you old scruff get a shave!

Tuesday

a mere 59.88miles today has taken Dave and his trusty bike to Loch Ness...I do hope the monster doesn't get him.Maybe the monster will settle for a go on the bike? The pictures are Burns Tower at Mauchline(Robbie Burns was a famous poet from Scotland) and Dave cycling over Rannoch Moor I believe.Well I know it's Dave,of course,it's the Moor I'm not sure about!Weel more or less anyway(get it?)(it's a joke)(ok I know it's pretty poor).
