On His Way

Yesterday(Thursday 30th)Dave got on his way.He caught the 7.16 train from Gloucester and eventually got to Penzance at 13.17.Then he cycled to Land's End(about 10 miles)to start his journey! He cycled 31.9miles to his first stop at Blackwater near Truro, and said the wind was against him...that's the problem Dave, the wind doesn't always blow the way you want it to!Today he hopes to cycle roughly twice that distance and should end up in Okehampton.
Having said 'hi' to our Aussie and Hereford supporters we must also say hi and thank you to the Brussels contingent, looks like we've gone global!Thank you to everyone who has sent money, eaten cake(yes,Kay,you know the guilty parties)and generally offered encouragement,it is greatly appreciated.
Nearly everyone in the Forestry Commission who knows Dave has been most supportive and generous, and even a fair number who don't know him have too.

ps

The APT is the Aviation for Paraplegic and Tetraplegics Trust based in Wiltshire UK,and 948miles is 1525 kilometers.

Greetings

to our Australian friends, who are very kindly sponsoring Dave, via Natalie. The plan is to give Australian donations to the MND assn. over there, and we greatly appreciate the fact that you don't know us but are still giving. We must try to work out how far 948miles is for you....it's a long way!We know you think UK is small, but one end to the other on a bike will make for very achey legs.
Whilst on the subject we must also say hi and thank you to the good people of Hereford who have said they will sponsor Dave, via Alexia,in the museum services.Every little will help and this is an illness which isn't fussy about where you live,it would be great to help find a cure for it.
We already have more than £170 but we haven't entered it on the justgiving website as we want to send a quarter(depending how much we raise)to the APT who helped Alan to keep flying after he got ill.

Land's End to JohnO'Groats

Dave is going to attempt to cycle from Land's End to John O'Groats starting on the 30th August 2007.He is hoping you will sponsor him with the money going to the Motor Neurone Disease Association,in memory of his brother,Alan, who died in January 2006 aged 57 from this illness. We thought we would do this blog so we can show you pictures of Dave's attempt and update you on his progress. If you wish to donate there is a website: www.justgiving.com/DavidRClark or if you prefer you can send us a cheque, just ask.
